Dracula's Ball, October 30th! Celldweller, Sepharim Shock, DJ's, Candy, + More! [03 Oct 2010|05:38pm]

The next Dracula's Ball event takes place on Saturday, October 30th and includes live performances by Seraphim Shock and Celldweller as well as three DJs spinning in three separate rooms.

All ages are welcome. If you want to drink alcohol, you must be 21+ w/photo ID. Tickets are $16 and are on sale now at Ticketmaster (in person or online), IsoTank.com and Digital Ferret CDs.

Our Halloween event has sold out for many years running.... As such, we recommend advance tickets in the strongest possible terms. Every year we turn away several hundred people who want to attend but did not purchase tickets.

Costumes are encouraged but not required. Although this is our Halloween event, please note that it takes place on Saturday the 30th of October. Of course, a few hours after we open, midnight will roll around and we'll kick off the official start of Halloween!

Dracula's Ball takes place at Shampoo Nightclub in Philadelphia, on Willow Street between 7th and 8th Streets. The club has a large enclosed parking lot which is free, but it does fill up early during Ball events. Doors open at 9pm and the event ends at 2am. In addition to live bands, there are 3 DJs on 3 dancefloors, vendors, candy and door prizes. The official DB website can be found at: http://www.draculasball.com

Hello there my fellow closet goths. [15 Nov 2009|07:37am]

My name is Nia, and i'm sixteen. I consider myself a closet goth because i adore the lifestyle, but i do not wish to make it my own. I love goth music, and i love to draw goth things, make little dark plushies, and also dark photography. I've been obsessed with vampires ever since i watched The Little Vampire and i love everything from Tim Burton.

Though i love all of those things considered goth, i also very much enjoy non-goth stuff. My music taste ranges from classical to rock to trance to chiptune to death metal to shoegaze...i'm all over the place, and that's not exactly accepted when you're goth. Even if it was accepted, i just don't feel i'm goth, goth doesn't define who i am.

Some days i wake up, and i sigh, and walk out of my apartment dressed in all black. Other days i wake up and laugh and leave my house looking like a rainbow....well not really, but you get what i mean (hopefully!). I dress how i feel, and i don't always feel dark. I'm always being compared to goth or emo, but in all reality my personality is way too jumpy for that!

This is what makes me a closet goth, to have the eyes that appreciate goth but still be myself :)

Introdution Post [10 Apr 2009|05:01pm]
I don't know how to LJ cut before anyone tells me this is too long.

Anyway, Iike I said; This is going to be long because I have some things to get off my chest. So, after years of jumping from community to community, I find myself joining yet another one. Ironically, I had sworn to never join an online community again. I'm talking more about the goth communities, because I have no problems in the other communties I've joined. Everytime I try to join a goth community, I never stay around for long because I'm either ran off for being "not goth enough" or I eventually leave on my own because I got tired of the "gothier than thou" attitude.

I'm now a 20 year old African American woman who has been around the online goth "scene" since I was 15. I have become disillusioned with the goth scene. So much that I can no longer go by the label that I used to so proudly wear. I thought the goth scene was about being "open-minded". That you were free to be yourself and that others in the scene will accept you for being you. But that is all a bunch of bull. All the goth scene is a fashion contest of who can dress in the gothiest oufit and think they are "so goth" that they feel the need to call anyone a poser because apparently to be a "true goth" you have to follow a list of "rules".  They're no different from the so- called "conformists" they claim to hate and seperate themselves from.

I joined this community because I feel that it describes me perfectly. I dress in goth fashion and collect gothic themed accessories.  I also have some interests that are considered gothic such as my love for Tim Burton films. I also love vampires and anything else that's seen as "dark and creepy".  However, I can't stand goth music. It just doesn't have any feeling to me. The closest I listen to goth music is gothic metal. While I am cynical and somewhat sarcastic, I *gasps* enjoy living and having fun instead of whining about "conformists". I *gasps* like some mainstream music instead of limiting myself to just goth music. I *gasps* wear color in my wardrobe. I even wear *gasps*PINK and I *gasps even more* LIKE it.

To be honest, stereotypically speaking I'm more of a "geek" than a "goth", but I just don't care anymore. I'm tired to trying to label myself because I'm just limiting self like that and I've realized that I'm just a living example that people can't be fully defined by labels. But we all know that there will still be people who will try to slap us in a box (we can't escape it), so when asked I reply that "I'm alternative" because that is the easiest yet vague way to describe me. I don't fit in with most of mainstream society, but I'm not "freak enough" for the freaks. I'm just me. No more trying fight stereotypes or fit in to one.  I go my own way now. I don't care what people think of me anymore.

I've been watching this community for a while before I decided to finally join and from what I see none of you care either. It's nice to know that I'm not alone in my being a "closet goth".

z0mg a n0ob lololol [22 Mar 2008|07:48pm]

Okay. Hello everyone! I guess I'd be considered a closet goth because I listen to a lot of real goth music and post punk, but I'm not goth. And that's about it. I was, perhaps, a bit gothtarded once. I shopped at Hot Topic a lot and... um... liked Marilyn Manson. And I had a Vampire Freaks account. I know, lame. And I like Britney Spears, which is the most ungoth thing anyone can do. Anyone who has a problem with that can suck my fat one =P. Just kidding. Yah... hi. =D

Just a little introduction:

I'm Blusfrog. I've been a closet goth since high school, though I've never dressed goth or looked goth. My gothicness really started coming out when I met my wife, who is also a closet goth. I am an avid Depeche Mode fan. Glad to be here.

Happy Birthday Pigface Christus [08 Jan 2008|06:05pm]

[ mood | sharing is caring ]

This is a video for Happy Birthday Pigface Christus by Current 93. It makes me think of Christmas, what with Rose McDowall doing a rather different take of Holy Night at the beginning.

I'd never heard a Current 93 song before and their records are hard to find but I'm a big Rose McDowall fan. She has a beautiful voice and this song is really good though if you're even a tad religious you'll probably take offense.
